France announces €65m support for FloWatt tidal farm

The French government recently announced its financial support to the FloWatt project, developed by HydroQuest and Qair.
Seven 2.5 MW tidal turbines, manufactured in the Constructions Mécaniques de Normandie shipyard of Cherbourg, will be commissioned in 2026 in Normandy’s Raz Blanchard. FloWatt will be France’s first tidal pilot farm, and will meet the electricity needs of 20,000 people for 20 years.
