Captains Conclusions – Steering the ocean energy course

The last 2 years have seen significant technological progress at the same time as unprecedented levels of public funding allocated to OE projects. This has sparked interest from private investors, power utilities and oil&gas majors. The partially funded pipeline stands at 167 MW for now, with more to come.

This session will attempt to understand the consequences of this progress: is this the start of industrialisation or are we waiting for more signals? Can those projects reach financial close? What does it mean for the sector if they do or don’t? What is the impact of national elections on this development – UK, US, EU Commission?
